Individual therapy is a safe and containing setting where you can explore patterns and themes in your life and work, with a particular attention to your experience of emotions. In therapy, individuals have the opportunity to explore the lens with which they see their lives, and to recognize and better understand how the way they think and behave came to be. With this new understanding, the client will learn to recognize triggers and defense mechanisms they may have developed during an earlier time that may no longer be effective. The goal is to increase a capacity to try new ways of seeing oneself and one’s relationship to others. The typical frequency of individual therapy is once a week, while I encourage more frequent sessions.
