Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is a safe and containing setting where you can explore patterns and themes in your life and work, with a particular attention to your experience of emotions. In therapy, individuals have the opportunity to explore the lens with which they see their lives, and to recognize and better understand how the way they think and behave came to be. With this new understanding, the client will learn to recognize triggers and defense mechanisms they may have developed during an earlier time that may no longer be effective. The goal is to increase a capacity to try new ways of seeing oneself and one’s relationship to others. The typical frequency of individual therapy is once a week, while I encourage more frequent sessions.

Couples/Relationship Therapy

For couples/relationships, even the decision to consider therapy can be difficult. In joint sessions with you and your partner/s, we will work together to improve your relationship by resolving underlying problems. These underlying problems can be explored through understanding early attachment styles, communication abilities, and empathic capacities. We will work together to broaden and bridge understanding to increase intimacy. The typical frequency of couples/relationship therapy is once a week.

Teletherapy

Teletherapy is the delivery of psychological services using secured interactive audio and visual electronic systems where therapist and client are not in the same physical location. The potential benefits of teletherapy include increased accessibility and client convenience. Individuals seeking teletherapy must be residents of California and/or New York. The typical frequency of teletherapy sessions is once a week.

Supervision

For therapists-in-training who are looking to expand their training in private practice, I offer supervision and training services. We will work together to create agreements and review training requirements, if any, to fulfill your hours. The frequency of supervision hours is dependent on your client hours, typically once a week face-to-face supervision for 50 minutes.

Consultation

As a clinical psychologist I offer specialized knowledge and expertise in cross-cultural work, and intercultural and intergenerational conflicts. I work with individuals or organizations in regard to the psychological aspects of their work. More often than not, a consultation will be a short-term engagement on a particular client or topic, which may involve training and teaching.
